Unless you pick a cake straight off our website, all cakes made by I Want Cake are custom quoted to suit your needs. All cakes are made to order.
We base our pricing based on 3 major components;
The bigger the cake and the more elaborate the design, the more expensive it is going to be. If you want to feed 100 people, it is going to cost you a great deal more than the same cake design to feed 20.
The biggest contribution to the cost of a cake is the labour involved in baking, assembling and decorating your cake. So, the more decoration, the more expense. A small three tier cake will be more expensive (in most cases) than a large two tier cake which can cater for the same amount of guests.
When you are looking at ordering a cake, you will need to know how you are going to serve your cake. Will it be used as dessert where each guest will receive a piece of cake or will it be served as coffee portions where your guests help themselves to pre-cut “finger” slices?
This is especially important for wedding cakes as dessert portions are served as part of your formal meal, every guest will be served a piece of cake that has been plated up individually and are usually a 1″x2″ slice of cake. Therefore you need to count every guest in your cake size. Coffee portions are usually sliced up as a 1″x1″ portion, plated on platters and put on the centre of tables towards the end of the night. When serving cake as coffee portions, usually only 70% of your guests will need to be counted for cake as some guests may not pick up a slice or may have already left before it is served.
It is recommended to get in contact with us as soon as you know your date required. Although you may not completely know what you are after, this will give you the best chance of securing your date. I Want Cake requires a minimum of 2 weeks notice to book in your cake, but can book out in advance.
For I Want Cake to give you an accurate quote, we will require:
>> Name, contact number and e-mail address
>> Date of function
>> The servings required
>> The serving sizes (ie dessert or coffee)
>> Cake flavour, filling and cake covering preferences
>> The style/design of the cake (inspiration photos are always welcome!)
>> Budget (Please note your design ideas and number of people to serve may not match your budget. But we will always endeavour to work within your budget where possible! )
>> Do you require delivery and set up *additional fees apply
>> Weddings – Will you be keeping the top tier for your anniversary?
All wedding cakes are recommended to be delivered, a delivery fee will apply based on the venue location. All other cakes are to be picked up from Hillbank, South Australia unless otherwise arranged.
Dates will only be changed subject to availability.
Cake designs may be changed but must be done so no more than 2 weeks prior to the date required. A design change fee may apply and your original quoted price may also change.
The date of your final payment is the final date for any changes of size, style or flavors of the cake. Any changes requested after this date cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges.
Please refer to your contract terms and conditions, as based on the size and type of event (ie weddings) – this information may vary.
If your planned event is cancelled due to Covid-19, I am happy to rebook your order for a future date or make an alternative cake for the original date. As we plan ahead and buy and make ingredients, custom toppers, decorations ahead of time we are unable to offer refunds. However a store credit to use towards a future order will be provided if requested.
Deposits are non refundable, but can be transferred to another date within 12 months.
