About Us

Welcome to I Want Cake (formerly The Baker’s Wife)! 
I love art, design and making cakes. So what better way to feed my creative mind than making and decorating cakes and desserts! My name is Alanna and I am a cake decorator based in Adelaide. 

Whether it be a simple cake for a small birthday get together or an elaborate Royal Show entry, I am continually coming up with new ideas. Learning about cakes and new decorating techniques is something I thouroughly enjoy.

I have spent many years as a qualified graphic and web designer. But I lost my passion for sitting in front of a computer all night away from my family.

I was told so many times in my first years that I should be more serious with my cake decorating, and so, I Want Cake was born.

We are a household of food intolerances and allergies. My family has experience managing both dairy and gluten intolerances as well as coconut, cashew and sesame allergies. We take special care to cater for intolerances and allergies in the kitchen. For this reason, my buttercream will always be dairy and gluten free. So I can sample from the batch to ensure the taste is perfect and not too sweet!

My council registered kitchen is located in Hillbank, South Australia and is fully insured.

As a registered member of the Cake Decorators’ Association of South Australia – Lower Northern Branch, I participate in group learning sessions, both free and paid. I am also now the branch President for 2022-2023.

The CDASA branch has helped me to learn new things and discover new skills and techniques. I am looking forward to learning more!
